My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited
Australia | Sunday, June 30, 2013 | 5 photos
I am Sarah Doherty, a 19-year-old photo enthusiast from Sydney. I have been interested in photography for as long as I can remember. My dream is to one day become a National Geographic Travel Photographer.
I want to travel the world with my camera, documenting its many unique places and the lives of the people that inhabit them. I feel my ability to make people feel comfortable around me helps to let them open up, allowing me to capture a side of them that would normally go unseen.
Getting a chance to travel with a phenomenal mentor Jason Edwards, to an incredible location with such a unique culture would be an excellent opportunity for me to develop my social documentary skills, and to capture the beautiful soul of my surroundings in Greenland.
Using photography to capture the stories within a place is important to me; I want people’s stories to be heard. I feel as though there is so much going on in the world that most people aren’t aware of, even in their own countries. I wish to be the one to show these stories to the world.
Bringing my passion and charisma, I will ensure that with your guidance I will get the most out of this wonderful experience.
