Life along the Irrawaddy River, Myanmar

My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Myanmar | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

I’m a traveler, a teacher, an explorer, a citizen of the world. I grew up in North Carolina an avid reader. I traveled the world and history through the books. In university I chose to major in art. I continued my travels through the images created by others. Upon graduation I moved to the other side of the world. I wanted to see for myself these words and images created by others. Taiwan welcomed me with a new culture and world to explore. I began recording my memories and experiences on film. Along the way I became a teacher, working internationally. Currently I live in Cambodia. I use photographs in my classroom to help my students learn about the world and experience the lives of others. Through the lens of photography they get a glimpse of the stories that fill our world. I will move to a school in Uganda and look forward to taking my lens to Africa, to continue photographing and exploring the landscapes, lives, cultures and stories that make up our world. I look forward to using my photography as an educational tool to share experiences and see new perspectives. I want to take photos that make people want to learn more, travel further and explore our world.
