Puerto Angel (Oaxaca, Mexico). Coasting over the Pacific waves in Puerto Angel, Oaxaca, our guide on "Azul Profundo" was scanning the waters for sea turtles and the shades of blue were endless.

San Cristobal de las Casas (Chiapas, Mexico). A common site in Chiapas' capital city; women with several children in tow, mingled with tourists, their arms full of bracelets, necklaces and beautiful handmade artwork. Especially striking was this young boy. Although clinging to his mother now, in just a few years, he will likely be walking on his own, perhaps with several friends, his arms then full of his own handmade treasures.

Coatzacoalcos (Veracruz, Mexico). We ended our 2000 kilometre journey by returning back up to the Gulf of Mexico after a challenging drive through the mountains of Oaxaca. It was so comforting to feel pavement beneath us again and feel the fresh breeze coming from the Gulf. This was a striking moment that made me forget all about our seatbelt rules in Canada.
