My Scholarship entry - Letting the mud settle

Hi Jason, my name is Rohan Ware and this is a little bit about me….
Growing up I loved sport and participated in anything and everything, although endurance exercise became my passion and my identity.
My love of photography began a few years back whilst travelling to Nepal. I wanted to capture my experience not only in my thoughts and on paper but through imagery.
From here my passion for grew and my focus shifted from spending my spare time exercising to heading out and spending hours shooting images. My previous pursuits weren't overly healthy as I lacked perspective and was very closed in my vision of what I wanted to do. I have found photography has lets me explore the world more closely. How I view things has forever changed, it has forced me to stop and smell the roses so to speak. I find the entire process one big adventure and capturing my surrounds has enabled me to see new places, think about things in a different light and has constantly allowed for me to centre myself.
Although I’ve had no formal training in photography it’s something that has become my passion and part of my new identity. This time though, my focus is healthy and it is what keeps me balanced.
