My Scholarship entry - Letting the mud settle

Although I am not religious the significance of the iron cross still had a considerable impact on me. It is common for pilgrims to carry a rock to represent their burdens or sins. Placing the rock at the base of the cross symbolises the letting go of these burdens.

Along the way I was looking to discover the Spanish landscape, experience their way of life and interact with locals. Although the language barrier prevented us from conversing, this man was more than happy for me to take his photograph. I continually wonder who the second seat belonged to.

A purpose of the journey was to escape the chaos and rushes of daily city living. Your single focus each day is to walk from point A to point B. I don’t think we ever get this experience and time to reflect in our normal lives.
