Seadragans are very shy and secretive animals - rarely allowing close views.

Male and female weedy seadragons perform an intricate and beautiful dance which concludes with the male seadragon carrying the fertilised eggs for almost 8 weeks after which the babies hatch fully formed.

Listed by the IUCN as Threatened due to habitat destruction by human sources such as pollution and mooring infrastructure. While pollution remains a problem, luckily a group of dedicated engineers have a devised a system of mooring that minimizes the damage caused by ropes pulling up marine vegetation - and unsuspecting seadragons.
