Made it to Panajachel

Finally, dinner in Panajachel.

Finally, dinner in Panajachel.

We arrived in Guatemala City and caught our shuttle van to Panajachel. Should have been about a 3 hour drive that took 4 hours due to traffic and road construction. Lori and the kids took a nap, and I enjoyed talking with the driver, Ignacio. Got to our hotel, which is nice and laid back, and ventured out into the town to find dinner. Went to a highly-recommended Uraguayan steak place, and it really hit the spot!

We experienced that wonderful moment in foreign travel, when you've endured a long journey getting there, somewhat apprehensive about what it'll be like, worried about the worst-case scenario. Then you settle into a comfortable hotel, and have that first comforting, hot meal, with enough familiar foods (and beer and wine) to make it all feel right.

We're happy that you made it there safe and sound. It looks like you're off on a great vacation. We enjoyed the photos and look forward to seeing more. Have fun!
