We got lucky and were greeted by one of the 1,000-3,000 remaining manatee in the world at the Coral Gardens. Photo by our guide, Carlos Ayala.

We were fortunate enough to experience a manatee close up. It swam right up to us as if to check us out and looked right at Lori. Then it turned and slowly and gracefully swam away. It was a beautiful moment and left us all a bit stunned.

Are you back yet?!? I'll still leave this message assuming you'll find it. I just caught up on all your posts and this is fabulous: the fact you did all this for Elena and Jarrett, the videos, the posts... What fun. Thank you for sharing in this way, and it is so great to see everyone in action. It has to be a good eight years at least since I've seen everyone.

Hugs and kisses, Maryann
