My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

The ability to just freeze a moment in time has always been something that I have found fascinating. The more I captured events this way, the more of a passion photography became for me. Since the time I picked up my first camera, I have found photography to be both a constant source of fascination and inspiration that has shaped how I perceive life itself.
On a recent trip to Nepal, I was shocked by the sheer amount of poverty that was evident everywhere one looked. The grueling and unfortunate conditions that a lot of Nepalese have to go through put things in perspective and made me come to a very hopeful realization - that no matter the hardship, humans have the ability to persevere, something that I hope my images capture.
Personally I always found National Geographic to do just that, to inspire as well as bestow a sense of hope. The search for scenes of the unusual & unexpected, or just pure courage and determination has made me yearn to travel and experience the world.
Winning this competition will allow me to be exposed to the skills and experiences of a seasoned photographer and in doing so help me to understand my shortcomings and hone my own skills.
