A few minutes’ drive from the desert jaunt scene, I saw this lone bird perched on this lone tree. It was winter, and the trees, very few and far between, were all denuded of their leaves. What a precarious life the bird must be living!

Saudi Bedouins on a desert jaunt just outside Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. They were in the middle of absolutely nowhere. I shot the pic at 35X optical zoom.

On the same day but a few miles away from the desert scene and lone bird, I came to this place in Riyadh. What a stark contrast! Looks like worlds away!
