Often the wind blows strongly carrying the clouds over the mountains and if you are up there at such moments it is difficult to face the weather.

Situated on the northern side of the peak Ciucas at 1700m altitude, the spectacular rocky formations known as the 'Devil's Hand' (or the 'Hand with Five Fingers') is a very difficult alpine route that was climbed by very few.

In early autumns there is often snow covering the trees and the grass still green.
