Beautiful Uruguay

Hola!

This morning I scraped my self out of bed in the wee cold dark hours of the morning and made my way with the group to our Ferry ride.  Much like boarding a plane it was with immigration and baggage check in.

The ferry looked almost like a cruise ship and was very comfortable and roomy... and slow.  A gaggle of hacidic Jewish men prayed together nodding away amidst other passangers and 3 hours later a saxaphone player gently woke us up with cheezy music when nearing the port.

So we have arrived at Colonia, a very picturesque town.  I´m not sure of its history yet but it has a wall in it which (according to my informal guide and new acquaintance Matias - a 26 year local who desparately wants to move far, far away) used to separate the Portugese from the Spanish.  The streets are paved with cobble stone in the old town and are lined with beautiful deciduous trees, all different shades of Autumn.

The other guys in the group all hired buggies and golf cars to drive around town but I have only ventured out on foot at this time.  We are here only one night and tomorrow afternoon depart on a bus for Montevideo.

Hopefully I will keep more up to date in the near future!  Oh, I also forgot to update that we have lost members of our group again and taken on new people.  We are still a group of about 15... the new additions include 3 girls from England, a man from England... and a couple from England.  All English!  I didn´t realise that.  The Aussie gang has diminished somewhat.  At present time there are 3 Aussies (incl me), 1 NZ, 1 Canadian, 8 English personages... maybe I have forgotten someone but we lost the 3 English boys and the 2 American ladies and the 1 South African in Buenos Airies.

Anyway... I´m getting boring now so with no further ado, ciao and all you find people be well, take care, have fun and enjoy creating your realities!

Ciao,

Mezzo
