Jammu - a dentist's clinic

Jammu - a dentist's clinic

Not much to offer in Jammu other than a pitstop enroute to Kashmir which is disputed territory, fought over by India and Pakistan.  I am still on the Silk Road, on the route that ended in Delhi.  Key point of interest in Jammu today is a Hindu temple but it was really somewhat off-putting with its individual shrines where each shrine-keeper aggressively follows the tourists and touts for donations in exchange for extravagant blessings.  A soldier with a rifle sits in a tower overlooking the temple.

More interesting are the streets of Jammu.  Not catering to the foreign tourist at all.  Lots of little shops offering everyday goods, food, snacks and even guns.  Even bumped into a couple of dentists' clinics.  Thank goodness my teeth are alright.

By this time tomorrow, I expect to be lazing on a houseboat in the lakes of Kashmir.
