On the way to Mt Cook the planes meet the mountains rising like an impenetrable wall from the fields stretching out in front of them. It creates a definite level of excitement and anticipation at what lies ahead!

On one of the many trails taken on the way to Mt Cook we crossed this stream. Although beautiful clear and clean the winding stream disappearing into the mist and darkness seemed to have an element of foreboding and danger.

Finally we have arrived! Mt Cook off in the distance clearly the most intimidating peak. Powerfully winding down in front of the mountain a glacier carving a path in the earth although slowly receding and giving a constant reminder of our impact on the planet and its warming temperatures.
