Living the Dream

Heading Back

Well that’s 4 weeks gone and it’s time to start the long haul back to site. We start with a very tearful goodbye to mum (she didn’t even come to the airport this time). We check in on our BMI flight to London and get told we need to collect our bags in London. Not what a wanted to do (we had a lot of baggage and our bags were heavy). So we get to London quick fag break for Gobey and off to check-in and grab a good meal before the 12 hour flight to Singapore then a quick walk through the airport before the flight to Bali, hang out for 6 hours and then the 2am flight to Timika. The joys of international travel.

Checking in at Singapore Airlines was ok, till the lady said you do know you’re over weight on your baggage allowance. Now I know we were overweight (Natalie and mum can confirm the hassle of packing the bags) but there was no way I was unpacking anything at the airport. So good old Gobey pulls out the discharge book and pleas that we are heading back to work.

Thanx to Gobey we get all our bags on and we won’t see then till Bali (suits me less stress). So with that we take our 2 roller carry on cases, new projector we have purchased and my very large handbag through to the terminal to grab some food and wait for boarding.

Yo sushi and a chai latti before boarding is always a good idea, and don’t forget the duty fee – chocolates, drink and a few gifts for those back on the mountain. Let the flights begin!!!!
