Thing have started to run fast these last few days as the weather has picked up for a few days and so I have had to do some miles. My visit to Schaffhausen, in Northern Switzerland, may be a surprise to most of you, but this is advertised as the home of the largest waterfalls in Europe. The river Rhine falls (helpfully Lonely planet interprets this as Rheinfall in German) no less that 23 metres over a sandstone lip about 150 metres across (I’m sure the Storfosen fall in Sweden last year was bigger, but)! What even the statistics, it is quite impressive. And well worth the drive.
