My visit there was to bring those moments into images and I had the arduous responsibility to use my camera to tell a story that would never fit into words. I confess that in many moments, I felt like leaving the camera aside and enjoy the whole learning experience in front of me, hugging those children, receiving all the affection they had and giving some love and care back. What kept my camera in hands was the desire to spread this story knowing that there is still a long way to go to really help this community.

These people have opened themselves to receive me and gave me much more than I would ever be able to give them back and it would be impossible to write about this place without mentioning the biggest hope they have for a better future: the children.
Thus, the place that I am writing about is not only these small and poor villages in the south of Brazil, but the beauty that is hidden inside those islands. A place where I could fulfill myself with hope, even catching a glimpse of a childhood filled with nothing but disadvantage and uncertainty.

These villages are not part of the tourist complex of Guaraqueçaba and many communities still live faithful to their ancient traditions.
If it wasn't for the wonderful work that Renato has been doing for these villages in the past few years, these communities would have no help whatsoever and may never have any access to health and education benefits.
In the photo, he waves goodbye to his beloved family before following his long journey, grateful for another great day of work.
