    These villages are not part of the tourist complex of Guaraqueçaba and many communities still live faithful to their ancient traditions. If it wasn't for the wonderful work that Renato has been doing for these villages in the past few years, these communities would have no help whatsoever and may never have any access to health and education benefits. In the photo, he waves goodbye to his beloved family before following his long journey, grateful for another great day of work. by: patchi Views[179] My visit there was to bring those moments into images and I had the arduous responsibility to use my camera to tell a story that would never fit into words. I confess that in many moments, I felt like leaving the camera aside and enjoy the whole learning experience in front of me, hugging those children, receiving all the affection they had and giving some love and care back. What kept my camera in hands was the desire to spread this story knowing that there is still a long way to go to really help this community. by: patchi Views[198] These people have opened themselves to receive me and gave me much more than I would ever be able to give them back and it would be impossible to write about this place without mentioning the biggest hope they have for a better future: the children. Thus, the place that I am writing about is not only these small and poor villages in the south of Brazil, but the beauty that is hidden inside those islands. A place where I could fulfill myself with hope, even catching a glimpse of a childhood filled with nothing but disadvantage and uncertainty. by: patchi Views[205] Through this series of photos, I tried to show the other side from being obvious and see the beauty and goodness of a community that lives under very poor conditions. I went out of my comfort zone willing to help, to know and understand their traditions a bit more and bring some happiness to their lives, but it finally dawned on me that it was my own life I was seeking to understand. This man in the photo, named Renato, is a real warrior. He is native from one of the villages and, perhaps, the most intelligent person I've ever met, breaking down all the cultural and economic's barriers and using his knowledge to help his people. by: patchi Views[218] Considered one of the most biodiverse places in Brazil with an extensive Atlantic Forest range and several islands, Guaraqueçaba is situated in a region of rare beauty in the south coast of the country. Their forest reserves and almost intact ecosystems, are part of a very well preserved environment appreciated by fans of eco-tourism, but this wasn't exactly my assignment around there. This place I've chosen also hides some of the most amazing villages I have ever visited and had the honor of helping. by: patchi Views[194]
