The whole scene careful observed by all the village chiefs of the surrounding settlements, its important that everything is running correctly because soon will be decided which will be the lucky town for the coming three years. This will be decided by the direction the masts will fall on the ground, the village in the direction the mast points can call it self the lucky one. Therefore last prayers will be done to bless the spirits.

Once set on fire the Shifu (Master) of the Changxing Palace stands alone in front of the boat, the responsibility was writ large in his face when he spellbound stood there for minutes like a iron statue in a storm.
For more than a year he was committed to this event which now is on its peak and soon part of history.

Not only the lucky village but also the lucky family will be announced very shortly. As soon the mast starts falling the bravest local man will start running towards them to be the first one who gets the paper fish which is on top of the mast. Those minutes are very chaotic and filled with lots of ego. There are two fishes, on each mast one and as you can imagine much more man who claim to be first, so it all ends up in a scrimmage.
