The magical Wudang Mountains in central China have attracted humans for centuries. Early records dating back to the 7th century (AD) tell of Taoists building the first temples in these mountains. It is now an important center for Taoist research where martial arts, meditation, traditional Chinese medicine and Taoist agriculture have been developed. Wudang is especially known for its unique internal martial art techniques, which were created by the legendary monk Zhang San Feng. This mystical place is currently recovering from the cultural revolution and many martial art schools are mushrooming all across the mountains with lots of Chinese tourists coming up here to catch up with ancient knowledge and wisdom.
