This was one of the many hand made bridges for walkers along the track. This particular one was halfway up Barrons Pass and presented us with the opportunity to take a break and refresh ourselves and the water supply. The hiker in the image is George and has to be one of the fittest and kindest people I have ever met.

The first day is about 16 km and will brought us to Lake Vera Hut. This day took 9 hours due to the thick mud that occupies the

Huon pine is very rare and found only in Tasmania. It is a very hardwood and due to the altitude when it dies it does not rot. Once we climbed high enough it was common to see many scenes like this where the pine skeletons still stand but the vegetation below prolific. You can see the path on the right, by the time we got this high the paths and tracks became quite sparse. This images was taken just below the summit and Lake Tahune. The wood itself is very rare and sought after, however this part of the wilderness is world heritage listed.
