hope this comes thru in the right place - i have a really hard time with Macs!! (and for that reason cannot append a photo yet)
Kelly got us tickets to the Clubhouse at Keeneland yesterday - it was the 3rd day of a 3-week meeting and being a Sunday it was pretty crowded with racegoers. the clubhouse has a dress code (no jeans for anyone plus jacket and tie required for men - they do provide bright green jackets for men who show up undressed but surprisingly i only saw one). some of the ladies were dressed to the nines in summery semi-formal dresses but no hoopskirts
i have gotten so spoiled that when 2 young men preceded me thru a doorway yesterday i was SHOCKED that they did not hold the door open for me! this is definitely the South in most ways with a lovely soft accent that i like very much
Keeneland is across the road from Lexington airport, our point of departure tonight, and i did get sometimes distracted from watching gorgeous horses on the track (plus we went down to see them in the paddock before they went to the gate before a couple of races) to watch aircraft taking off and landing so closeby
i am really hoping that Turkish Airlines biz class lives up to the major hype i've been giving Kelly of the joys of sitting in the pointy end - and also hoping that we get some sleep on the long flight from Chicago to Istanbul so we arrive somewhat rested for a lovely dinner with Philip
will try to get some photos to attach when i get access to a 'real' computer - probably in MOROCCO
