My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

Austria | Sunday, January 13, 2013 | 5 photos

Taking photos lets me forget about the usual stresses of life, and allows me to focus on capturing the beauty of a moment. Yes it can be stressful as well, but I channel that intensity into ambition for the perfect photograph. To me the photos I capture are a voice that I cannot express with words.
I work in visual effects for feature films. I love what I do but my passion is photography. I am self-taught and my dream in life is to become a nature photographer. I love capturing the beauty in the world and even the ugly when I can. I enjoy exploring others’ photos and learning about cultures that move and inspire me to better myself as a photographer and as a person.
I also spend a lot of time watching nature and culture documentaries, and would love to take part in making them. It would be a rewarding privilege to make something that inspires people to learn more about the world, about how its beauty is often different than we think it to be. Where do culture and nature overlap? What does that look like? How can I document it?
Thank you for this opportunity. Your enthusiasm and continuing mentorship to aspiring photographers is an inspiration in and of itself.
