We arrived
Monday night in Seattle
and met our CS. Jess is a nurse working at night so we hadn’t the chance to
hang out a lot together but he was kind enough to let us his keys for this
couple of days.
Tuesday we
met Bobby (another CS who couln’t host us which was to bad as he lives on a
houseboat!)and Seth ( for a lunch) in
their fav’ hole-in-the-wall thai restaurant. The food was even on them. It was
really nice.
They told us
about the good places to go. Went to Pike place Market and get to the showbox to
get tickets for the Morcheeba concert the following night.
We walked
to Belltown and got through vinyls to finally have a coffee and cake break in
one of the nicest places in that area.
Walked of
course to the Space Needle. Got questioned by a police man what we were doing
in middle of the street and we told him
that we were just making pictures. He checked again what we were doing and only
left when we left as well.
Got on the
Monorail back to downtown. Walked through again and stayed for a while in the
public library and made way to many pics because of that crazy architecture.
We decided
to head home and have a quite night but first went to supermarket for food and
a beer…. We had to show our ID for the alcohol but the normal ID wasn’t enough.
They wanted our passports which we didn’t carry with us.
So we went
home without beer and made for that matter a ginger and lemon tea which wasn’t too bad either :O)
Wednesday
morning we drove to Fremont
a kind of hippie area with small little colourful houses. We walked and got
through the shops there. We saw the Troll under the bridge and the Lenin sculpture
and had quick lunch in the car. Yes we are very healthy while travelling,
always make some tasty sandwiches and salad for lunch!!
In the
afternoon we walked through Chinatown which wasn’t half as interesting as in Vancouver. We had a coffee
break in the Pioneer square area which is the old town (150 years old!!!) of Seattle. After that we walked
through the area and had some yummy sushi for diner. Last but not least we went
to the Morcheeba concert which was pretty good as the new singer was awesome
and the location (Showbox at the market) was great.
And we met the wonderful stereotype of an American couple: He pretty smart and
so far nice and she 37 already in a midlife crisis and we were trying to
explain her that everything isn’t that bad. She ended up being completely
drunk!
