Ancient Mariners

Travels, waves and whales were the stuff of my dreams and when I finally ventured out into the world, propelled by an unforgettable ride on a wave, I was swept across continents. First, it was an escape. Then, it expanded me and took me back within.
I volunteered in environmental projects in Oman. I loved midnight visits by foxes on freezing mountain ledges, feeling the spray from a blowhole of a humpback whale, crawling stealthily through the grass to glimpse flamingoes and laying on damp sand all night to watch turtles. I realized then, that I am the happiest out in the elements and that looking through my lens doesn’t just let me capture the moment, but also immerse myself in it. It would fulfill me if, through my photography, I could stir awareness about the world around us and bring to light inspiring projects that nurture and protect our planet.
My environment is sand and sea and I would be thrilled to break out of that comfort zone, put on some woolly socks and head to Greenland with Jason Edwards. Having professional guidance would undoubtedly give me a sense of direction, challenge me creatively, and inspire me to reconcile working for living with living my passion.
