Tennessee Williams says well what seems to escape our attention, all life is a memory except this one moment that has gone before you realise. We can't go back or forward, we can't fix a moment change it or stop the cameras & start again. This is it, right here right now. Whatever your faith in religion, in history, in people, in yourself the present moment & the lessons from the past are all we have.
Standing in the courtyard of folklore, where millions have stood before me, movie stars, writers, lovers, hopeful & wishful; a city that had taken a story passed down through hundreds of years, Shakespeare makes history with, students analyse, we deconstruct to find how a love so great could end with such tragedy. These are our stories, our moments of pleasure, of pain & the greatest mystery if all is love. Neurologically it doesn't exist, just a chemical reaction to intense attraction & attachment to another, yet why as human beings do we need to understand it, to seek out our own truth to contemplate something which makes no sense, it just is, faith. Love is simply faith in its greatest form.
Wr can't touch it, hold it, stick it back together. Many will try to mend a broken heart, either with finding another, with distractions (over eating, drinking, smoking, shopping etc) you dowse the ache with whatever you can find & so often it is self love we struggle with the most. As parents we give bountiful love, witfew we boundaries, stretch it, shape it, adapt; we are more forgiving as parents than with most forms of love we afford anyone else. In the end Williams says it best, we only have this moment. Make it your best, live authentically, honestly, raw & true. There will always be doubters, those whose truth, the one they need will be different to your own, let them have their own moment, leave them be.
Juliet I may not have been impressed with your Verona, the rudeness of the five star staff, forgetting breakfast & no tea or coffee! Yet whether tale or truth I need not know, I can live with taking the interpretations of your tragedy to teach us we must only live for our faith in love, in ourselves, in others, in faith itself. That there are some things, people, memories, moments in the here & now which cannot be deconstructed, you cannot understand it, believe I've tried. I wondered why would tfe universe compell two souls together & then leave them apart & yet finally for Romeo & Juliet they were eternally together. Love, faith, it tasks risk, going against the flow, standing out, standing down, speaking up.
What light you let break into your soul will be entirely on this moment here & now, what risks you take, how vulnerable yare allow yourself to be.
Travel far & travel wide, live in the moment, let the light in & who knows maybe you'll find love along the way xo
