    Smiles and hope - A group of Kashmiri migrant workers smiles at the camera. The ongoing militancy and daily clashes in Kashmir have made lives of local people very tough and cut the employment to nil. So, Kashmiris now have to migrate to other parts of India in search of odd jobs. Some bring with them woollen items and dry fruits and sell them in small towns and others, who don't have anything to offer, just resort to plain hard labour. With the hope that one day their homeland shall be peaceful and they shall return... by: mirror Views[854] The caretaker - A boy keeps for his father's workshop in the absence of his father. Despite strict child labour laws, it is very common seeing children helping out in their family business, working into shops, doing daily wage jobs like waiting tables, doing dishes, selling cheap items etc. to support their families. Education takes a back seat when survival is on stake! by: mirror Views[458] It's a dog's life - A street dog sleeps on the divider of an Old Delhi street. The scene is symbolic of people's apathy towards stray animals. Street dogs have a life of loneliness and hardships, have to beg and fight for food, are traumatized by frequent fights amongst them, heavy traffic and people's often cruel and harsh behaviour. Most of them are scarred for life. by: mirror Views[822] The tea break - Two friends have a tea break while the life goes on around them. Tea, introduced during the British rule, is the most popular drink all over India and tea breaks are a time to relax and socialise. A tea break can involve discussions of all type- business ideas, current affairs and politics, social issues, the day's news, sports, movies - basically anything and everything under the sun. by: mirror Views[610] Monsoon moods - The reflection of the Jama Masjid tomb, along with that of a rickshaw puller, is visible in a shallow pit in an Old Delhi street. Monsoon in India is a time of extremes, joys and hardships both. While the nice weather gives much needed respite from the long hard summer, rains spells doom for people whose life is dependent on the crowd on streets. The tomb is under repair while the rickshaw puller has to wait for passengers, who are in scarcity at this time of year. by: mirror Views[919]
