Mick and I are currently killing time (as you do on the Greek Islands!) while waiting for a lovely Greek mamma to finish all our stinky, sweaty laundry. We took our quad bike out this morning for a long, last ride to where Mick originally stayed when he was first here at 21 years of age. It was party central with tavernas all lining the beach and sun chairs dug into the volcanic black sand. The Greeks drive like they're auditioning for 'World's Worst Drivers' and love to overtake on blind corners. Buses sit up your clakker as they wait for an opportunity to roar past you with no ceremony whatsoever. By god it makes you feel alive.
We had brekkie at a little cafe called ' Mamma's whose slogan is 'Mamma loves u babies!' Mamma came roaring out of the kitchen to yell at us (as only a Greek can do), "Did you saya gooda morning to Mamma! Gooda morning! I love you babies!' She was quite off her trolley but great fun. There's pictures all over the walls of people who've dined at her place. The food is great but does NOT have the National Heart Foundation tick of approval. When we left she yelled out 'BYE SEX BUMS!'and we laughed all the way back up the hill to our place.
Mick and I watched the sun set last night over the rim of a Mojito and we were making ourselves sick on happiness and the beauty of the place. Santorini is tres beautiful....it honestly takes your breath away. The mojito wasn't bad either.
Love to you all, Fi xxxxx
