Weaning

UNITED KINGDOM | Wednesday, 13 April 2011 | Views [807] | Comments [3]

As Rowan is now six months.. we've begun weaning.  We're using the 'baby led weaning' method, which basically just means you put the food within reach and let them get on with it.  No special meals, no purees, no fuss.  Messy.. but fun.

Rowan's very first meal.. the broccoli was his favorite.

Not quite sure what to do with it once he's got it in!

Mmmm.. carrots.

More broccoli.. and some did make it down, I've got the nappy to prove it!

The tricky cucumber carrot combo.

Cool cucumber.. another favorite.

And banana for dessert.

After that first bit of fun we got on with more traditional meals.

Baked sweet potato with cheese

Tuna mayo with chive sandwich

He's still working out which side of the spoon is up, so at the moment he gets runny things using a basting brush.  As demonstrated here with a yummy fruit pudding.

Rowan wondering what he should do now that he's chucked his brush off the tray onto the floor.

Fruit and yogurt for breakfast.. yum yum.

It looks like Rowan is having as much fun with food as I do. You should see the floor when I eat dinner. Yikes, get a broom!

Mel, thanks for the pics! Love, Uncle John

Adorable pics, Mel! Looks like he's having a blast trying out new foods! Hope you've found a cute drop cloth to keep underneath his chair for easy cleaning. :) What a cutie!!!
Big hugs, Rel

The dog has been loving weaning as well.. he gets what ever is left over from Rowan's meal (which at the moment is a good amount). He's not keen on veggies.. but he loves pasta, bread, eggs, and anything meaty.
