On the South Island

NEW ZEALAND | Friday, 30 July 2010 | Views [273]

I have had an interesting journey thus far. From Auckland to Rotorua; I consoled a trucker who just lost his job and was making his last delivery and I feed a baby milk out of its bottle while I rode with a family. In Rotorua I soaked in some thermal springs, stayed a great hostel, meet some fellow travels (a lot of Germans) and did some day hikes. On route to Taupo, I was picked up by a very intersting lady. The conversations were wierd but I did get a ride all the way to Wellington with a free place to stay at her friends house and then again in their families guest house in Marlborough Sounds. (You wouldn't believe me if I wrote it so I will have to fill in the details later). The ferry ride across Cook Straight was spectacular. Once on the South Island, I kayaked a bit around Queen Charolette sound, then hitched on to Nelson. I've only been in Nelson 2 days now, but I absolutely love it. It's a shame I need to keep moving on.
