Virus...

NICARAGUA | Sunday, 26 July 2009 | Views [1041] | Comments [3]

I went to another doctor yesterday afternoon and I finally found out out what I have - shingles.

So it isn´t just an allergic reaction to the painkillers, it´s a virus, which explains all of my other symptons such as sight fevers and head aches.

Now I´m on antibiotics and will rest when we get to Ometepe, which is our next destination. We´re getting a taxi to the dock and then getting a small boat over there. Hopefully it will be relaxing enough for me to start feeling happier - I just want to get better and get on with my trip!!

I took the anti-biotics and used the new cream for the first time last night and as a result, I had a better sleep than I´ve had in quite a while. I hope the improvement continues. :) I´ll update again after we arrive on the island; we´re leaving this morning.

Shingles? It's a virus the same as or similar to the same virus that causes Chickenpox. There are some natural treatments which are quite effective including Cayenne Pepper believe it or not and you're in the right place for that. Take it internally or as an ointment. Mix some in with a body lotion and apply. You can also use apple Cider Vinegar instead of Cayenne pepper. I've also read that you can make a paste with regular rolled oats and apply that.

Great blog by the way and awesome photos.

Stay safe and well and shingle free!

Yes, shingles it not something I thought I'd EVER get. It's pretty horrible!! Thankfully, I do seem to be getting better with the medication I've been taking.

Thanks for the tips about natural treatments, Dad. Sadly, I don't think I'll be able to find any of that stuff where I am.

I'm getting better though! :)
