Devon, March 2009

This is Smeaton's Tower - a lighthouse built in 1759 and used to stand 15 miles from shore on Eddystones Reef. In the mid 1880's they realised the rocks it was standing on were wearing down due to the crashing waves, so they move it stone by stone to where it stands now on the Hoe. I think it's lovely that they saved it.
