Women make many trips carrying full baskets of seaweed. Each basket weighs approximately 30 kilos. For each kilo, they will receive $2000 IDR, which is equivalent to 20 cents of a dollar. A kilo of rice is $10,000 IDR.

As the sun sets, the people from Nusa Lembongan will take advantage of the low tides, and will resume their daily harvesting of seaweed. The seaweed that will be used to make cosmetics and beauty products for the outside world.

Most locals have never left their small island, meaning most children will follow the steps of their parents and will become seaweed farmers. Though many children skip the morning session to go to school. The majority comes around in the evening to begin what will probably become their life long work.
