One of Washington Square Park's musicians, commonly known as Piano Guy, plays alone the morning of Valentine's Day, 2014. You can see that some admirers have chosen to thank him with flowers instead of change today.

Washington Square Park has the uncanny effect of bringing strangers together to interact and revel. Here the park's street musicians, normally spread around different parts of the park, have come together to jam as a large crowd of onlookers gathers. Most of these musicians are regulars who have become fixtures of the park's culture.

New York University's proximity to the park has caused students to adopt Washington Square Park as a de-facto quad. Here students enjoy reading outdoors one spring afternoon.
