Washington Square Park is the site of many strange and otherwise unimaginable activities. Here locals of all ages knock around strangers in cushiony combat at the annual New York City pillow fight. Feathers fly and the remnants of busted pillows litter the ground, while some participants make battle clad in custom costumes.

Welcome to Washington Square Park, the heart of the historic bohemian neighborhood Greenwich Village. Walking down 5th Avenue, flanked on either side by skyscrapers and tall apartment buildings, you will suddenly come to the arch and the open space of the park, which hosts a multitude of colorful personalities.

Washington Square Park has the uncanny effect of bringing strangers together to interact and revel. Here the park's street musicians, normally spread around different parts of the park, have come together to jam as a large crowd of onlookers gathers. Most of these musicians are regulars who have become fixtures of the park's culture.
