Week 2 was another crazy week – working for 5 out of the 7 days – 3 days on yachts and 2 days at the Grand Prix – I am feeling pretty shattered now!
We also had a couple of wild evenings, where Masha (my evil twin, for those of you who have not been fortunate enough to make her acquaintance) was making lots of new friends. One evening we found ourselves in the Absinth bar – the only item on the menu is Absinth, but there are like 40 odd varieties – pretty cool spot!
I spent the most amazing evening in Monaco on Thursday night. I was working on the m/y Indian Empress, which was hosting one of the biggest parties of the Grand Prix. Prime position on the docks, and pretty damn cool to be in the Monaco harbour with all the parties going on and the fireworks displays! There were so many journalists, watch out for me in the HELLO magazine, I might just have snuck into a couple of shots! The only famous person I recognised was Ralf Schumacher, and I didn’t even realised who he was at first.
Saturday and Sunday were spent working in the Williams VIP lodge – above all the stands, and overlooking the pits – v cool location. I was waitressing (yes, I know it seems crazy to go from a CA to a waitress, but I got paid to have an amazing pozzie at the frikkin’ grand prix of grand prix!!) A whole bunch of us sailor wannabe’s were working there in the different lodges, so was really fun! The Williams lodge had talks from Nico Rosberg and Alex Wurst (the Williams drivers) and also one of the legends of racing, Jackie Stewart – so we were really lucky! It was quite amusing working during the races because we obviously had to wear ear plugs, so no amount of shouting would help with being heard – sign language was the only option. It was pretty tiring because we had to be there at 7am, which meant that we had to be on the 5.35am train from Antibes. 4 of my housemates were also working, so the shower queue started at 4.30am! (Today I slept until 12 – bliss!)
Back to the job search and dock walking tomorrow!
