The members of this Jewish community were very often well-respected people, intellectuals or doctors.

The old Jewish cemetery is part of the Central Cemetery of Vienna. It was built in 1877, at a time when Vienna was one of the biggest centers of Jewish culture in Europe.

Walking around, you won’t find any new graves after 1938 – the year of the occupation and annexation of Austria into Nazi Germany.
