And this is Brio the Greene

AUSTRALIA | Monday, 14 April 2008 | Views [500] | Comments [2]

Today was a hum-drum day.  Until we were oh so hilariously reminded WHY we like to work at Brio so much.  So I was randomly scheduled to work Wednesday at Brio and I wrote the following:

Dear Management,

I just wanted you to know that I will be just the tiniest bit late on Wednesday because my flight from Australia was delayed until June 28th.
I swear, I'll be walking through that door no more than 2.5 months past 3pm though.  I just thought I'd let you know because I'm going to need someone to clock me in since I'll be late and Doug always says to call even if you're just going to be 2 seconds or even just 2 months late.  I'm on my way.  I won't let the team down. : )
Thanks for all you do,
Mary

PS What is this event anyway?  If I wear jeans is that appropriate or is this more of sequenced dress kind of party?

PPS Lindsay says hello too and wonders why SHE wasn't scheduled for this "event".  She wants to remind you she's very valuable to the team.

Hope you all haven't forgotten about us : )  We haven't forgotten you all or that Garganelli Carbonara is made with: Hand rolled egg noodles, in a carbonara sauce (made with alfredo and bacon) with spinch and chicken chunks on a plate that says Brio.
I know.
I'm good at this.

I received the following from Greg and Doug:

Dear Mary,
Bring a note.
Thanks,
Greg

and Doug's

Mary & Lindsay,
It is good to know that you are periodically checking hotschedules.  I put you on the schedule just to see if you were watching!! :)  Thanks so much for being responsible and letting us know that you were going to be 2.5 months late for your shift!!!  That is what I am talking about!  If I could just get everyone to understand that concept, I would be a happy man!  As for the work attire, it might change from jeans to sequenced dressed event by the time your flight lands, but DON"T FORGET THE BLAZER!!  Maybe a jean skirt with a sequenced blazer or do you think a sequenced skirt with a jean blazer????  You know me ,I have never been the fashion king of the restaurant!

As for Lindsay, I was afraid to put her on the schedule, because I was afraid that she might think she would get fired if she didn't show up and I know that you are more direct and would just let me know that it wasn't a possibility and I would have to make alternative plans due to poor planning and having to repost the schedule after the deadline!! :)  Both of you are still very much apart of the team and the plan moving forward.  It sounds like Lindsay is working with you on the menu, so you should be ready to serve and help teach work ethic to the rest of the servers when you return!  Oh, by the way the menu will be totally different when you return, so just don't get frustrated that you will have 10-15 new menu items, but it never hurts to know the old menu selections as guests will still be asking for them.  You don't want to upset the CHEF??  ha,ha

Great to hear from you and hope all is well down under!

Best Regards,
Doug Thrush

PS:  We are out of Pledge!!?  We have been cleaning or has Ally just rearranged the cabinets and I can't find it??  They swear that they are cleaning in your honor!!  Lindsay, We don't have a band for this event, but who is going to lead the CONGO line??

This is why I still work there.

I haven't eaten at Brio in forever. I used to at least get lunch delivered, but I don't work there anymore. I must admit, it isn't the same without Mare or Linz to greet me... that must be why I don't go. Plus, Chris doesn't like to go because the people that still work there that worked with him go all crazy over him and talk to him and stuff. And we can never get away from the jokes about the, ahem, "incident." But I'm sure if you two still work at Brio when you get back from Oz I'll visit again.

I'm sure of it.

By the way, I drank a (almost) whole 2 Liter (litre? haha) bottle of Coke in your honor this weekend while reading the 6th Harry Potter book. I read over 500 pages in two days.

With love and coke points,
Joshu
