Playa Party

AUSTRALIA | Tuesday, 26 February 2008 | Views [461]

As it were Ellen, there ARE Australian girls.  It just so happens that few and far between at Uni. are very cool and un-slutty (sorry Australian girls).

Our other housemate, Paris (who IS Australian), moved in.  She's basically one of the most fun people I've ever met.  She doesn't like to drink and she dances like no one is watching.  So she dances like Lindsay and I...haha.

The beach party was a GREAT time.  Worth $15.  It was a bit difficult to find things to wear to an indoor beach party, but all the same.  We didn't know what to expect.  And what we DID expect is not what ended up being.

They would NEVER do ANYTHING like that in the US.

And if it were WSU, NO ONE would show up.  They had 2,000 tickets to this party and they sold out immediately.

It was basically a school scheduled, two story party, with everyone dressed in beach gear, a live band and dancing downstairs, a bar upstairs, and every song you know, turned techno.  Flashing lights, a huge crowd and everyone just dancing dancing dancing. I mean we busted out the running man, the robot, throwing the dice, shopping cart. I pulled out the Vanessa Gilbert dance (I don't know if you read this Nessa but your dance has spread down under) and we even taught some Aussie's to square dance (well our version anyway)

There were cops stationed around to make sure no one got hurt and a place for people to go if they got too drunk and needed medical assistance.

I've never even HEARD of a school hosting something like that.  They even went so far as to line the edge of the balcony with tables so no one would fall off...it was nuts. You know what it was like? It was EXACTLY like when you watch those movies about high school and the have this incredibly crazy prom (like in 10 Things I hate about you-sorry heath) with a live band and tons of dancing and food and you say to yourself "that never happens" but it does. And it did. And I danced at it. The singer in the band even LOOKED like she was from one of those high school movies.

And it was fun.

Lindsay, Ryan, Tim, Paris and I danced non-stop from 9 until 11.  The party kept going until one but to be honest us girls were BEAT.  There's only so much rave-style dancing (jumping up and down and wiggling all around) you can do until your body starts to wish it were dead.

My favorite was they played "Open Your Eyes" Snow Patrol, but techno-ized and it was pretty good.  Of course I loved it, since it IS one of my favorite songs.

I'm wiped now and going to go to sleep.  We didn't get our ID's or our concession cards today because the lines were around 4 hours long.  We're getting up early to do it tomorrow.  Can you believe we need to buy MORE passport pictures.  This will be my 5th round.  I've used 8 pictures so far.  I wish they'd tell you in advance...it's way cheaper buying them in bulk.  I mean, like less than HALF the price of retaking them!

I love you all.
