    Unfortunately, as always has to be a less positive side, young people in these lands tend to drop off ancestors legacy in favour of the temptations offered by so-called civilized world. An elderly family tols us they haven't seen their niece for nine years. At that very moment, I felt personally touched, for as I have taken the same step, some time ago, and am nowhere happier than when have lived by the principles of a simple world breast by the family I have left from. by: maramures Views[225] Although new things began to make their appearance in this place lost in the mists of nowadays, still have not managed to replace all those who once made ​​their full duty. It seems they retain a place in households if not the souls of these people, as part of their cultural and personal identity. by: maramures Views[229] While most of us have trouble in figuring what last piece of technology should buy, people places don't rely on it, but only see it as another decorative element to fit in the landscape intruded, probably, by some 'invaders' that don't understand inhabitans here don't really need much to be happy. The old lady where I took the picture at, told us she doesn't recolect the last time she has used the TV. Didn't take me much to understand they have their own stories and don't need anything else that could interfere with their values and local believes. by: maramures Views[169] People here have a way of making simple things a piece of art by decorating the old wooden architectures with different simple objects. Simplicity is key word in every way possible. by: maramures Views[195] Even if not situated very far away from where I live, I never had the opportunity, so far, to travel in this part of the country I heard some many wonderful stories off. I have discoverred breath-taking places as exactly the ones I pictured in my mind. I was so impressed, that I went twice in only one month. The places seen there made me decide having a reportage in what my future journeys brought. It is amazing how people in this part of the world managed to conserve their traditions and identity throughout the centuries. Even if, nowadays, it seems 'old fashion', one can find in each elderly's houses well hidden in preserved chests at least one traditional outfit. The place is so full of offers which made it really hard for me to decide whether I was to show you the people and the places or just the elements that I considerred as being land's trademark. This time, I chose to show you more of a spiritual side rather then the material one, by selecting some key elements found in the Poienile Izei's households. by: maramures Views[332]
