Sweeping our way to Broome!

Richard Nixon??

Richard Nixon??

We have just left Fitzroy Crossing.....next stop Broome! Whoopee!!!!!!

Yesterday we took a boat ride through Geike Gorge on the Fitzroy River. (The reason we stopped in Fitzroy Crossing)  The cliffs along the riverside were spectacular limestone creations that have been carved into amazing formations by the ‘mighty Fitzroy’ when she roars through the gorge at high tide during the summer months. Once again the colours of these rock walls are just spectacular.  From the pure white limestone, through to a fabulous rich burnt sienna colour.  Oh, to be able to sit for a few hours and just paint!!!!!

I have been doing a little bit of painting, but it’s difficult when someone else has to wait around while you are doing it!! I’d like to say, “You go ahead and I’ll catch up later!” I have done a few little watercolour sketches in my sketchbook in the car as we’ve been travelling along , just to stave off the withdrawals I get when I don’t paint!!!

A lot of catching up to do and a lot of reading but it is spectacular to read all you adventures.
Fantastic to drive from one place to another and anywhere things more beautiful as yesterday. Don’t trough away your map maybe we want to borrow it someday, once in our livetime!
I get shivers from crocs too. Must be heavy to see them sunbathing but only if they are far away. In Steve’s Zoo (were you took us) we went to a crock-show; Evelien still remembers, and also she could cuddle a snake while we were waiting.
We are in Spain for a week now. A lot of sea- and swimmingfun and for Irene and me a lot of sunburning! I feel like a snake too haha. We also visited beautiful old villages in a landscape like we are on the moon and nice beachplaces. But tomorrow we will visit the city of Gaudi, Miro and see more of Salvador Dali: Barcelona!! Last week we went to the Salvador Dali museum: very special and extraordinairy.
Hé alo to Julie: did I read it well? Good on you!! Keep strong. You started to work on your kitchen after you stopped. We painted the outside of the house the week before we went on holdiday (we still hope someone will ever BUY our house!!!) but still smoking: the girls counted a couple of days ago we could pay our tickets in one year to Australia when we give up smoking …. think we just have to keep saving!!
o.k. time to leave you, the girls will be right back from their Abba-night with friends on this camping. Early morning tomorrow!
Keep going, 6,5 weeks to go, enjoy and drive save we will following you both on the other end of the world!! Lots of love to everyone of the family XXXX
