    'Scape the desert'. Chapter 5. I'm heading to the north of Perú, and my bus passes, as usual, so many tiny villages lost on the way, that I'm sure I will soon forget them all. But not this one. I cannot forget the hopeless-desperate look on this girl, even though I was invisible to her. She's staring at the dry and sandy sunset - I wonder if she does this every day - , while her mother works fixing a tire. by: luigimeetsworld Views[940] 'Dog Day Afternoon' Chapter 4. I walked up one of Cusco's most sloped streets to see the city from a high spot. Wait, not that high. I deliberately crouched to reach the eye level of this pintoresque dog, as if I were just another pooch, his pal, standing right there at the heart of the Imperial City of the Incas. by: luigimeetsworld Views[561] 'Contact'. Chapter 3. I move on. The road keeps doing zig zag. After passing 2 or 3 small villages hidden either by clouds or mountains, I stop. I take some time to study the inhabitants. This is no longer Machu Picchu and they're not that used to interact with strangers. An intense thunderstorm woke me up in the middle of the night. But I was supposed to leave by night, and I left. You cannot wake up at 9 if you want to see the sunrise at Machu Picchu. It seemed as if the rain were improvising a symphony. Every drop of water did different sounds while reaching the leaves of any kind of tropical plants. After walking through the gloomy jungle I arrived to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Our Sun unveils the characteristic lines of Machu Picchu against the dense, shallow clouds and the bright mist that cover the Lost City of the Incas by: luigimeetsworld Views[873] 'Andean eyes passing by'. Chapter 1. I arrived to Cusco on New Year's Eve. This big day unfolds in front of my eyes. I know there's a big celebration coming at night. But I have the whole day to explore yet! Under the jagged silhouette of this cloud-high city - capital of the Inca Empire - there's a rythmic up and down of vehicles, merchants, and tiny dogs that goes on all day. On the early morning, the only girl on this crowded bus is dressed all in red. She has such a mysterious look and she stares at me, one eye covered by the frame of the window - while a busy bus goes wobbling around down Cusco's mazy streets. by: luigimeetsworld Views[487]
