Half Term in New York

Well I have just spent a fabulous week in the states, mainly in New York. For the first few days I played real tourist doing the big bus ride around the city. We were able to pass or the highlights Central Park, World Trade site, Brooklyn, Times Square, Broadway etc. The worse thing was sitting on a open top bus doing the night tour. I can tell you it was cold (approx -8) but it didnt prepare me for the next few days.

I flew into Buffalo airport to where it was snowing. Oh my gosh it was cold (bout -10). After taking the local bus to Niagra Falls and finding my hostel I ventured to my first look of the falls. As it was evening and I was on the American side I was still blown away by the sight. I didnt expect to have so much snow and ice but it added to the sight. In the morning I ventured to the Canadian side to see the falls. This side definately has the better views. The lake below was pretty much completely frozen (about 2m thick of ice). As it was winter the falls were only running about 30% capacity. It was still an amazing site. I definately dont know how people have survived going over them let alone me surviving in the snowy cold -15 temps plus a wind chill factor I cant explain. I have never felt so cold in my life.

Venturing back to New York I awoke to a couple of feet of snow with it still snowing. I spent the day walking around Central Park. How beautiful it was. I also managed to take in the Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. The next day with all the snow still around (It had not melted by the time I left saturday, 4 days later)I became a window shopper at Sacks on Fith Avenue, Tiffany & Co, Bloomingdales and Jimmy Choo Shoes. I also had a good look at the Staue of Liberty and ventured to the heights of the Empire State Building. My last few days I spent walking over the Brooklyn Bridge, a river cruise, seeing the Harlem Globe Trotters at Madison Square Gardens (the best basketball game or I should say the best fun game I have ever seen) and a carriage ride around Central Park.

Well in saying all that I had a fabulous time in the states and I didnt get sick of my own company too much (that was only a week I have 2months of it on the way home). It has made me really excited about the last few trips I have planned before I hit Australian Shores. I hope you are all well and catch you all soon.
