    The concentration on the face of the woman as she strikes a pose for the audience didn’t echo the attitude of the house music being played in the club. Talking her to her before she when on stage, she told me of her structured daily workout regime and dance practices. Being able to work alongside her friends and receive applaud from the crowd made it all worth it, she said. by: lizziemay Views[158] The tricks involving eating fire, twirling flaming batons and swinging from suspended hoops last only seconds; the opportunity to capture the act is even shorter. Over several nights, coming back to the same club to photograph the girls performing, I finally got a clear shot of the girls in action. When I showed them the images after hours, they were so happy with the result. by: lizziemay Views[285] The girls all stand in a line, waiting to be called on stage to perform. They chat, smile and dance along to the music until it is time to step onto the oil-slicked floor. It is only herself in front of a club of intoxicated partygoers. by: lizziemay Views[141] The audience sat on the edge of their seats, as the cabaret performer fluttered her feathers and blood began to pour from her lips. A very bizarre show. I had to edge closer and closer to the front of the stage to get a detailed shot of her stage makeup. Any fault in her confidence during the act did now show, until after when I met her backstage, petrified by the size of the crowd. by: lizziemay Views[145] The oil splattering across the stage from the performers mouth nearly destroyed my camera lens, but it was hard not to be transfixed by the growing flames she produced. Persevering as sweat began to drip down my forehead from the heat, I could only imagine how uncomfortable she was feeling. by: lizziemay Views[171]
