I woke up at a decent hour the next day so I could drive Justin and Tina to the trainstation. J. came along because he wanted to change his ticket - so all of us headed out to Faro. I admit I got testy in the car - the Hager brothers can be backseat drivers with all the best intentions. I know I'm not the best driver, but being told to "go now" "speed up" "be more aggressive" doesn't actually make me a better driver in the moment. It freaks me out and makes me more stressed - so there were a few times I said "I'll go when I'm good and ready to go." But Tina is a helpful sidekick, she said "People. People!" when I almost ran over some pedestrians. Ugh. I was looking at the traffic and the street signs and my brian could only hold so much and the pedestrians here will (rightfully) walk out into traffic without looking, so I almost hit them. Ugh. They seemed none-too-bothered by it, though.
We got Justin and TIna off to their train in time, J was able to exchange his tickets, so we headed back to Fuzeta to pick up Jared and pack a few things - then OFF TO SEVILLE!
The drive wasn't so bad - in fact, once we crossed the Spanish boarder the drivers got a lot better (more on that later). It seemed like it took longer than it actually did, but perhaps because we were excited to get there. But, Jared was able to navagate using his iPhone - we drove right into the heart of the city: Santa Cruz. We spotted a parking garage, and although it was $20 euros a day, we figured it was better than searching around for parking so we parked there. The spaces were TIGHT but I got into one without hitting anyone and I thoguht the car was in the space good. It was not touching the white lines on either side. I was informed later that it could have been parked a tad better. I was also informed about some of my driving habits on the way to Spain as well. I really do hope and pray I get to travel more, but I hope and pray that I won't be the driver. It has been a task I have not enjoyed, and have been criticized for along the way. Double whammy.
We walked up to our 2 star hotel which was beautiful. Man, if two stars gets you "La Puerta de Seville" (The door of Seville), I have no idea what 4 stars gets you - private valet? We got two rooms.
