Boats docked alongside the muddy banks of the Yangtze River in the city of Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province. These small vessels are used to transport goods down the city's system of canals.

A street market in Hunan Province's Zhangjiajie. Everyday produce is brought into town and sold in makeshift markets scattered throughout Chinese cities. This basic form of commerce is still widespread in a country that also counts luxurious supermarkets and high-end car dealerships.
