Saturday 22/01

Train from Charing Cross station to Dover, then ferry crossing to Calais, more stamps in the passport and first foreign language country... here we go!

Train to Lille then transfered to TGV & onward to Paris. Had booked a little hotel from home, on arrival it was closed up for the night & no night bell to be found. Hmmm Parlais Vous Englais? Getting quite late after midnight now & raining, asking around, hotels either fully booked or too expensive, finally a hot tip from a nightclub doorman, we made our way to Hotel Formule 1 at Porte Montreuill. Vacancy! hurrah! Checked in and dropped onto the bed at 3.30am just in time to see snow falling outside the window! What a night- welcome to Paris!
Dimanche 23/01
Hot shower & Late checkout, Coffee & croissant before hopping in  a taxi to our new digs, a cosy little hotel in the chic 'Left bank'(Rive Gauche). Completely fell in love with Paris. So amazing, little bistros, cafes, patisseries, boutiques, even in winter the streets are just beautiful. Even the take away food is just divine, toasted ham & cheese pannini while wandering about, yum. Late night walk by Notre Dame cathedral & hot cappuccinos.
Lundi 24/01
Le Louvre
What a massive place. Spent the morning strolling around and made it through one wing... definately a second visit required on the next trip.
