My Scholarship entry - A 'place' I have visited

I am Lester G. Babiera, 22 years old, a writer from the Philippines.

Since I started a career as a writer for newspapers and magazines here in the Philippines, I learned to have a passion and love for traveling. I have been going all around the country for work and for leisure. I enjoyed the fact of learning the cultures of the places that I go to and the beauty that is not available in the concrete city of Manila, the place where I reside.

My background in photography can be traced back when I was studying in college. I was taking photographs for our school paper. After graduating college, I set aside my love for photography and tried making videos. I applied for a travel documentary scholarship here in world nomads but I and my partner only ended up on fifth place. Since making films is expensive, I applied as a writer in a cultural agency in the Philippines, a work close to my heart.

Now that World Nomads opened another scholarship, I'm trying to win this. I think that this scholarship will help me fall in love back to the photography. Traveling to Oman will open my mind to another culture different from mine and this will be an experience that I will forever treasure.
