ALII! (meaning Hi). Well, it has not been a hard week at all. A highlight was last Saturday swimming with the Palauan National Swimming Team! Sounds grand - but it is a small group of teenagers being coashed by Billy from Hawaii. I promise pictures soon. We swam for about 3km and as usual I went off course - but I have an excuse! There are just too many amazing creatures below you to focus much on stroke, breathing etc. So I will be in remedial stroke correction on my return!
After the swim were the obligatory snacks and drinks. The team need their strength - they are off to the Micronesia Games next week to compete in a variety of swim races. Wishing them well.
Monday we moved into an apartment. It is very simple, one bedroom - but has a large balcony overlooking the bay with lush bananas, taro and palms to look out on. We were lucky to get it - but with everything here it is the jungle grapevine that works well. Jan did the moving in and cleaning - I just went to work.
And any minute now we will have wheels. We found a small balck Diahatsu in a curious wedge shape. I am calling it the Black Bat (after the local Fruit Bats). Hopefully as I write Jan is off to pay rego ($25.00!). Then he gets to drive. Not normally a big deal - but today is pay day and we have been warned that when this fortnightly event occurs mayhem can break out on the roads as everyone celebrates.
So my next update will be how we survived pay day! have a good weekend everyone. We will be swimming (fish watching) really.
