After spending the past two Australia Days in Vail surrounded by raucous Aussies skiing around the mountain with Aussie flags tied to their backs like capes and singing ridiculous songs at the top of their lungs, I finally experienced the day in its homeland. Essentially, it's a Down Under Fourth of July in January. Hot weather? Check. Backyard Barbecue? Check. Swimming and sunning? Check. Fireworks? Check. It was a very good holiday complete with Australia-shaped hamburger patties. I'm not kidding.
